The Welcome Wagon – Up on a Mountain
A couple years ago, Sufjan, his friend, Rev. Vito Aiuto, and Vito’s wife, Monique, collaborated on an album – Welcome to The Welcome Wagon – a collection of original songs, old hymns, and also some more contemporary covers (Danielson, The Smiths, The Velvet Underground). Sufjan served as producer, backup singer (but don’t confuse him with Vito, they have VERY similar voices), and he also plays many of the instruments. The album has stronger religious overtones than any of Sufjan’s solo work but for those of you who are open to that and are looking for something new to listen to (something that has Suf’s sound aaaallllll over it), why not give The Welcome Wagon a try?
